The Alcorso Foundation http://www.alcorso.org/arts/seems like a fabulous
organisation that specifically supports Tasmanian artists including
print makers. The organisation awards scholarships for Tasmanian artists
to spend time in Italy and vice versa.
It is if not surprising at least interesting that the Alcorsa name and
family, which has been tied up with Tasmanian art and wine making for so
long is essentially the precursor to MONA. It is like the MONA site at
Berridale as special as it may be was somehow destined to be associated
with the arts
I seem to remember the Alcorsa name from the 1950's (that may be an
exaggeration I was only a little tyke in the 50's) but vaguely remember
Dad doing work for them when he was working as a draftsman/manager at
Lipscombes.
